What to do if you want to host a Men of Valor Retreat

WHAT WE PROVIDE:

1. ADVERTISING MATERIALS

We have posters we can mail to you, as well as video commercials customized for your church. We can also design mailouts/postcards or whatever you desire!

2. GLADIATOR EQUIPMENT

We have enough gladiator equipment for all, including safety helmets, weapons & shields.

3. LIMITED AIRSOFT SUPPLIES

We have a slowly-growing arsenal of airsoft guns to loan out as well as protective masks & goggles.

4. STUDENT WORKBOOKS

We’ll print out and bring along the student workbooks for the sessions - just let us know how many we’ll need!

5. PERSONAL CAMPING SUPPLIES, ETC.

WHAT YOU PROVIDE:

1. LOCATION

Our dream is to one day have a place of our own for Men of Valor retreats year-round. In the meantime, we have to arrange other locations.

The ideal place will be private and wooded, such as a privately-owned campground, ranch or hunting land. We need room for tents (or an existing building to sleep in), and a place to meet for the teaching sessions (that can be just an open space or a pavilion or even a building, etc.). We need space to have gladiator duels and run around with airsoft battles (without fear of accidentally shooting a neighbor). If no wooded areas are available, an open spot can still work. It would be preferable to have a spot to build a large campfire, but not necessary. If the retreat is the shorter format (see below), then it will be necessary to have some form of lighting for the late evening session, if it's outside.

2. TRANSPORTATION

The church will need to provide transportation from the church property to the retreat location.

3. FOOD

The church is responsible for providing meals when necessary. For the shorter format, all that is required is breakfast and lunch on Saturday. The longer format can also include lunch and supper on Friday. (These are teenage guys, so it doesn't have to be anything fancy!)

4. COSTS

All I require in the form of monetary payment is the cost of transportation to and from your church. Any donations/love offerings above that will be used to further the ministry (additional gear, BBs, printing costs, etc.).

WHAT FORMAT RETREAT ARE YOU SEEKING?

There are two retreat formats depending on desired length. If the retreat is taking place when school is not in session (summer, holidays, etc.), then a longer format is preferable, especially if it's a larger group (the more guys involved, the longer the activities take). The longer format can begin as early Friday morning as is desired.

The shorter format can begin in the early evening on Friday, such as 5:00 or 6:00. Both formats will then conclude early Saturday evening.

Transportation time to and from the retreat location should be considered, as well.

In any case, the retreat length and format can be modified to fit your group's specific needs. We're flexible!
